Protection from electrical hazards is one of the many important focuses of our home inspection. Many of us are or know some one who has been a do-it-yourselfer with respect to minor electrical repairs or upgrades but, in many cases, it is the minor work that often leads to disastrous or, sometimes, fatal results.
Throughout the entire inspection, your Structurally Sound inspector is on the lookout for any suspicious configurations both interior and exterior to the building that may cause harm to you and your family.
The inspection incudes:
the service drop.
the service entrance conductors, cables, and raceways.
the service equipment and main disconnects.
the service grounding.
the interior components of service panels and sub panels.
the overcurrent protection devices.
a representative number of installed lighting fixtures, switches, and receptacles.
the ground fault circuit interrupters.
